I have been dedicated to improving research evaluations and scholarly communication in academia for an extended period. My vision is of an academic environment that prioritizes contributions to the public and science, rather than just numerical metrics. I have conducted numerous studies on this subject. I currently continue my academic work at Hacettepe University, Institute of Informatics, Department of Information Studies<\/a>. Additionally, I am a researcher at Adam Mickiewicz University Scholarly Communication Research Group<\/a>. Within the research group, I am affectionately known as the “master of rainbows” due to my penchant for utilizing data visualization tools in all my academic endeavors. I firmly believe that young researchers represent the most promising segment of the academic community and, as such, I am a co-founder of the Scholarly Communication Network<\/a>, which was established to support emerging scholars in my field. I received the Outstanding Young Scientist Award in 2024 from the Science Academy<\/a>, an independent non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting, practicing, and upholding the principles of scientific merit, freedom, and integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The two-and-a-half years of experience I gained between 2007 and 2010 at the company, which serves as the Turkish representative of citation indexes, played a pivotal role in shaping my research interests. My academic journey began in 2009, driven by the goal of addressing the standardization problem surrounding university affiliations in citation indexes<\/a>. This pursuit culminated in my doctorate, which aimed to demonstrate that not all citations are equal<\/a>. Subsequently, I completed my first post-doctoral research<\/a> on the same subject at Adam Mickiewicz University between 2019 and 2021. I completed my second post-doctoral research endeavor at T\u00dcB\u0130TAK ULAKB\u0130M, the primary funding body in Turkey, in 2024. This project, supported by the T\u00dcB\u0130TAK 2218 post-doctoral research scholarship, was focused on ensuring the sustainability and openness of Turkish citations. Currently, I am a member of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies’ DIAMAS<\/a> (2023-2025) and ALMASI<\/a> project teams (2025-2027), which aims to develop non-profit institutional open-access publishing models to advance scholarly communication. I am also the coordinator of OPENRAM<\/strong>, a Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie Staff Exchanges project<\/strong> funded by the European Commission, which focuses on developing fairer, more inclusive, and open science-aligned approaches to research assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n My scientific papers have been published in reputable journals such as Scientometrics, Journal of Informetrics, JASIST, <\/em>and Quantitative Science Studies<\/em>. From 2013 to 2019, I served as an editor for Turkish Librarianship<\/em>, the most established journal in my field. I continue to play an active role as a peer reviewer for numerous journals. Additionally, recognizing the significance of science communication, I frequently engage in activities related to this field and present on Turkish popular science channels such as Sarka\u00e7 <\/em>and Herkese Bilim Teknoloji<\/em>.
